Candid Conversations is Ignite’s quarterly “no bs” interview with featured speakers ranging from executives to thought leaders, founders to philanthropists. Following the Q&A, members join a guided small group discussion to reflect on key takeaways, ask questions, and unpack new ideas as a group. This month, Jonny Imerman, founder of Imerman Angels, will talk about how he took a dark diagnosis and channeled it into a movement to connect and encourage cancer patients across the country.  A CNN Hero, social entrepreneur and one of the most positive people you will ever meet, Jonny will inspire you to take risks and help you see how you can create a pocket of goodness wherever you are on your personal and professional journey. This experience is exclusive and complimentary for members (50 seats only).

About Jonny Imerman

At 26 years old in 2001, Jonny was diagnosed with testicular cancer which eventually spread to his spine. After surgery, treatment and months of recovery, he has been in full remission, but the experience made him realize something needed to change in the cancer world. In 2003, he founded Imerman Angels, a nonprofit organization that carefully matches a cancer fighter or survivor with someone who has fought and survived the same type of cancer (a Mentor Angel).  These 1-on-1 relationships inspire hope and offer the chance to ask personal questions and receive support from someone who is uniquely familiar with the experience. The service is absolutely free and helps anyone touched by any type of cancer, at any cancer stage level, at any age, living anywhere in the world. Today, Imerman Angels has more than 6,000 cancer survivors and more than 1,500 caregivers in its network.

Jonny received a CNN Hero Award in 2012 and the Humanitarian Service Award from his alma mater University of Michigan (among many others). Immerman Angels has been recognized as Chicago’s #1 Charity and been featured on Oprah, NPR and The Huffington Post. In 2015, he co-founded CLOZTALK to help brand fantastic charity organizations through premium apparel that sparks conversation, creates awareness, builds community and raises funds.

Here’s how Jonny describes himself: Health/workout addict. Vegan/whole foods, plant-based. Whole Foods, Plum Market addict. Equinox Gym. Stand over sitting. Love walk & talks. Detroiter, Michigangster. Love humans/animals/ideas. Minimalist. Simplifier. Dream: make world better place! Religion: kindness. Fav weather: 70/cloudy/breezy.
